Pity for Cricketers!

Posted in: Cricket Controversies & Issues

After so much of speculation and whatnot, cricketers of India are at huge loss. No, not the seniors like Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar and Saurav Ganguly, it is the others who could be affected badly, with only three ads per year.

Quite a few cricketing figures and others who have enough influence on India cricket have had their say, except the cricketers themselves. But looks like the cricketers are going to be given a fair deal.

Fair Deal? Impossible: To be a part of Senior Cricket Team,if you are young boy, you will have to start training from their school, miss out important classes and yet give the exams. Play the under 15s under 18s perform consistently and yet manage all that with ‘meagre’ amounts of money (if paid to them). And then breaking into Ranji or the Under 19s is a whole new task altogether. You need to impress some unnecessarily ‘important people’, not just with your cricketing ability, but also with your ability to entertain them.

Then comes facing the ball it in different countries as a member of India A, or under 19 or simply keep playing ranji with second class railway tickets and 2nd class grounds. And when with all this, you have to face the typical society that says what is in ranji, have a career! But you don’t give a sh*t to what they say.

And after all this you have to face toughest competition against ever in your life. You compete against the likes of Rahul Dravids or Sachin Tendulkar’s for a spot in the team. And you cannot blame them for their performance or experience. And then, you get a chance in the team, only to bring bottles when Sachin wants water if he’s batting or wants a replacement fielder when India is fielding. Imagine getting hurt while fielding, and you know that all your life of 20+ years has gone down the drain. But in the mean, neither are you paid your match fees nor are you allowed to have ads.

So what happens to you…nothing…you play ranji, and hope that someday, some news channel will come to you for expert advice.

So is the limitation of Ads justified? Only time should say.
