There are cricketers and cricketers. Some are called greats, given demi-god status and play nonsense cricket until they are kicked out. Some, aren’t called great, do not have the gift, but work out it all the time. That what we would call Anil Kumble, a fighter.

People said it was too late. But I think I understand why Anil waited this long time to retire. He was waiting on the bench when India played the world cup last time. It was terrible to be left out, when your team is winning. And he fighted his way back. He wanted to retire on a hight note. It wasn’t possible.

But Jumbo will be playing Test Cricket. Hopefully this veteran will leave cricket on a high that he deserves.
