Rahul Dravid says, “I don’t think we are weaker than Sri Lanka in any department.” Yeah Rahul you are not weaker! But question is how well did you perform in the last two matches. Sri Lanka nailed Bangladesh with exceptional fielding and even better bowling performance, both of which India couldn’t ‘manage’.

But of course it is Cricket. Anything can happen. India can fail, like they did against Srilanka in Sharjah for the lowest ODI score or India can thrash them like they did in Taunton in 1999 WC. But the question is still, will India raise to the occassion.

The last few matches India played against the Lankans were mostly one sided affair. But still, Jayasuriya is on song while Indians are worried if Sehwag can sing better! Muttaiah is still a threat, while India knows that they are taking a chance by excluding either of Bhajji and Anil. Vaas, like Zaheer is more or less consistent, but Malinga ( his action will come under scanner the next time SL tours Australia!) has no one to compete with, except for Munaf who is consistent with line and length.

But I reckon it will be much better if India asks Robin Uthappa and Ajit Agarkar to sit out and take Irfan Pathan (if not useful with bowling, he will be useful in batting) and Sreesanth (takes wickets, or can be given not more than three overs).

Anyways, it is going to be a funny game today. And Rahul Dravid can win the game not in the field, but even before the match starts, with his team selection. For the first time, I’m hoping Rahul Dravid does something ‘very innovative’. I hope this hope of mine turns true!
