Has the Aussies downfall begun?
Posted in: My CornerThis post comes before the last match between New Zealand and Australia being played at Hamilton today.
The last couple of weeks have got us enough food for thought regard to Australia and its recent performances. Loosing four matches on the trot is unlike the Aussies we know, they have never ever lost a match by 10 wickets. As much as I know about the Aussies as a team it has always come out triumph from a crisis by analyzing its mistakes and repeating them match after match.
The Aussies may be playing the kiwis without their main players but are of course not without their match winners. I guess this could be more of a trial and error method to test their bench strength as it’s highly impossible for all key players to be rested or injured just before the WC. Although it might be sheer bad-luck but they know how to take positives out of defeats.
The Aussies are weathering the storm; they don’t rest on their laurels being world champions but also understand maintaining that position. The experts behind Australian cricket are people who make the most of the technology in the game, who have almost perfected the art of being invincible.
More than the media and pundits of the game it’s been Aussie cricket that’s more concerned about the happenings. They are too matured to know what should be done and what’s not to be done. The coach John Buchanan is more than aware of the need to sign off on a winning note at the end of the WC.
I am sure the Aussies are too good a team to be written off so early, they need just a match to turn things around and regain their winning habit. Ricky Ponting knows what’s it to be world champions and what is takes to be one for a long time. He knows where to hit and how to hit to hurt the most.
