DD Live, Sachin rested
Posted in: Cricket News & UpdatesAs we hear the good news of DD sharing feed live with NEO Sports we get to hear the Bombay bomber being rested for the fourth one-dayer at Vizag to be played tomorrow. Sachin Tendulkar was been ruled out of the fourth ODI because of a stiff back, the BCCI confirmed.
The BCCI said they didn’t want to risk him before the start of the world cup next month. However, the injury to Tendulkar, who wasn’t part of the squad that arrived in Visakhapatnam today, isn’t considered serious and he will rest in Mumbai so that he can recover in time for the World Cup.
India already has worries over Irfan Pathan and Ajit Agarkar and Pathan is all but ruled out of the clash as well. The team management haven’t sought any replacements. Suresh Raina and Rudra Pratap Singh, who were brought in as cover for Pathan and Yuvraj, have been sent back to join their state team for the Ranji Trophy intra-zonal one-dayers.
Talking about the wicket at the Indira Priyadarshini Stadium at Visakhapatnam, the venue has been a run spree for batsman in this coastal town of Andhra Pradesh. Known to host only one-dayers till now, the first ODI was played here on 10 December 1988 between India and New Zealand when Krishnamachari Shrikkanth scored a fifty and took five wickets.
The Vizag venue has been a happy hunting ground for India as it beat Pakistan in 2005 with Dhoni scoring his maiden one-day ton here. The team batting second has always had the upper hand as the wickets tend to open up more because of decrease in moisture. The morning due shouldn’t be much of a bother either to the team batting first.
A score of 300 plus should definitely be on the cards. And with both teams tied at one each, the winning team will take the series 2-1.
