India to go unchanged at Rajkot

Posted in: Cricket Players & Matches

After a washout at Kolkatta both the teams gear up to go one-up in the 2nd one-dayer to be played at Rajkot on Sunday.  The 2nd one-dayer being a day affair promises to be a cracker.

Sri Lanka are trying out a new combination before they go back home to choose their squad for the world cup. But India surely has taken the positives out of the few overs that were played at Kolkatta.

It’s not always that one can draw positives from a rain-hit, 18-over ODI which gets abandoned. But with the World Cup team selection just days away, every player wants to come up with a performance that seals his flight ticket to the Caribbean.

Munaf Patel got India the break throughs at the Eden to make the selector’s job difficult. Munaf will surely make the most of Agarkar’s absence and so will Sreesanth who needs to get his line right from the word go. They couldn’t stop Jayasuriya’s onslaught from scoring and whenever he scores, the Lankans are in with a huge chance to win the game.

The Rajkot wicket seems to be a belter and the Indians as well the Sri Lankans would surely be disappointed if they do not go pass 300. It also would have a lot for the bowlers initially; a good line and length may get a few early wickets to cease the initiative.

A packed house is expected on Sunday and Sehwag will have to prove a point as the selectors will be announcing the team for the next two matches.
