Chennai Face- Off

Posted in: Cricket Players & Matches

The BCCI made us laugh yet gain. Strange are the ways of the selection committee, I wonder whether Dravid or the coach has a say in the matter. First it was Joginder Sharma being picked, given a chance and dropped along with RP Singh. As we thought that Gambhir and Ganguly will stick as openers, we get the news that Ganguly & Zaheer have been rested for the Chennai one-dayer, I mean how can you rest someone who’s making a comeback in ODI’s?

Yuvraj Singh is given a chance with Robin Utthapa, what if Robin scores? And what if he doesn’t? May be we are thinking more on the bench strengthen but does our bench have so much strength to bear such decisions? It’d better to think about the world cup rather than after the world cup.

The Chennai ground has been a ‘mixed results’ venue for Indians in one-dayers, which has been full of runs, may be we need to improve on our record. But all would depend on the dew factor yet again which again makes me think—are we doing the mistake of taking the Windies lightly by allowing them to level the series?
