Ganguly Unplugged
Posted in: My CornerWriting more on Ganguly, I happen to browse a few channels yesterday when I came across an interview of Ganguly with Prabhu Chawla.
The interview was a bit of beating round the bush with the same old queries put across to him. Prabhu Chawla, the pro that he is was hell bent upon getting out some secrets and questions that were unanswered, but I guess Ganguly preferred to be diplomatic most of the times considering what he underwent to make a comeback.
It all started off on a congratulatory note wishing him on his return to the team and his performance in the recently concluded SA series. Although it was very evident through out the discussion that the treatment that was meted out to him had left a bitter taste but all he wanted to prove that he still had 2-3 years of cricket left in him.
On asking what his role is going to be in the upcoming matches against the Windies and Lankans, he replied saying it’s up to the team management and he is comfortable playing at any position as long as he’s given a chance.
When asked about his relationship with Chappell, he said smilingly that all is well and would like his batting to do all the talking. He said that whatever happened he didn’t want to get into the blame game as it would benefit no one.
He also said that every leader has got a particular strategy to approach the game. Every player will be assessed solely by his performance. He also said that he would like to comment on the upcoming world cup only once he’s selected as he’d like to take one match at a time.
On captaincy he said he doesn’t mind playing under anyone as long as he’s a part of the winning team. He discarded his chances of regaining the captaincy incase India performs badly under Dravid’s leadership.
I would just like to go on and on…but on conclusion I felt that Ganguly has become stronger and more mature after what happened to him. He is meticulous in his comments but may be he has a lot to vomit once he hangs his boots, till then we would like see him dancing down the pitch and hit the spinners for sixes.
