A last-wicket stand between Craig McDermott and Mike Whitney which resulted in Australia drawing the final Test match against New Zealand and giving Allan Border his first series win as captain at the eighth attempt.
1982
A dramatic finish that kept England’s hopes alive in the series. The last Australian pair of Allan Border and Jeff Thomson put up 70 runs for the last wicket, but eventually Ian Botham got the better of Thommo equaling the smallest margin of victory in any Test. England ultimately reduced the margin of defeat making it 2-1 but couldn’t square the series in the final Test.
