2006 is all set to go down in the history books as a year that witnessed ugly incidents. The ten most talked about controversies that ruled the roost this year were:

1. The spat between Greg & Ganguly continued that also became a topic for discussion in parliament.

2. Sachin Tendulkar’s injury woes continued despite his return.

3. Umpire Darrell Hair at The Oval accusing Pakistan of ball-tampering.

4. Mohammad Asif & Shoaib Akhtar found guilty of consuming drugs and later cleared of charges.

5. Navjot Sidhu proved guilty for murder.

6. BCCI expels Jagmohan Dalmiya for embezzling funds.

7. Muralitharan’s run-out in the 2nd test against New Zealand.

8. Younis Khan steps down and retains captaincy of Pakistan for the Champions Trophy in India.
