It’s all happening here!!!

Posted in: Cricket Legends

Some cricketer commentators are known more for their off pitch one liners than on pitch records. The man who came up with his distinctive and excitable way of saying—“It’s all happening here”, “Lovely bowling”, “Got him”…and more has lent a new definition to cricket commentating.

The man who exclusively lends his voice to Australia’s Channel 9 Sports is none other than William Morris Lawry, popularly known as Bill Lawry. The younger lot of cricket enthusiasts may not know that this Australian great played 67 Tests, accumulating 5,234 runs at an average of 47.15 which included 13 centuries and a highest score of 210.

Bill Lawry captained Australia in 25 Tests winning 9, losing 8 and drawing 8. He also captained Australia in the inaugural One-day International in 1971 but unfortunately was dropped without notice by the then selectors.

Lawry continues to entertain the audience with his parodied style, because without him Australia cricket commentary would be like—it’s not at all happening!!!
